Derya
O. Yavalar - President and Chief Executive Officer (Founder)
Mr. Yavalar has more than 25 years of experience
with international and domestic telecommunications. He created Omni
Communications in 1994 to provide cost-effective telecommunications
infrastructure to emerging markets. As President and CEO of Omni
Communications, Mr. Yavalar has traveled extensively, meeting with
presidents of countries, government ministers, and business executives.
Over the years, Mr. Yavalar has successfully formed strategic alliances
and partnerships to facilitate the implementation of telecommunications
infrastructure projects. In 2002, Mr. Yavalar was named President
of CATEL, Omni's joint venture company in Azerbaijan.
Prior to creating Omni, Mr. Yavalar was Co-Founder
and a member of the Board of Directors of Wireless Network Technology
Corporation in McLean, Virginia where he worked with Science Applications
International Corporation (SAIC) and California Microwave, Inc.
to implement the first American Business Center in Novosibirsk,
Russia under the auspices of the United States Commerce Department
and former Secretary Ron Brown. Earlier in his career, Mr. Yavalar
held management and product development positions for GTE Spacenet,
Access Engineering Corporation, National Aeronautics Space Administration
(NASA), and American Satellite Corporation.
Mr. Yavalar, a Turkish-born American, is fluent
in English and Turkish and has a unique understanding of various
cultures and people that enables him to drive Omni's success. Mr.
Yavalar has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
from George Washington University and a Masters degree in Communications
from Johns Hopkins University. In 1997 he was inducted into the
George Washington University Hall of Fame for athletic and professional
achievements.
Claude Edeline - Board
of Directors
Mr. Edeline has twenty-five years of experience
in business development, marketing and political affairs. Originally
from Haiti, Mr. Edeline has served as Honorary Consul to France
from 1977-2001, and was decorated "Chevalier de l'Ordre National
du Merite" in 1989 by President Miterand. Mr. Edeline actively
interfaces with numerous diplomatic and international political
representatives, and his high-level contacts have enabled Omni to
participate in many telecommunications projects and joint venture
opportunities throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America,
including the award of a long distance telecommunications license
in Haiti.
Spyros
Stavrakas - Vice President Business Development
Mr. Stavrakas has over thirty years of experience
in business development, marketing and political affairs. Originally
from Greece, Mr. Stavrakas has served as the Chairman of the Board
of the Baltimore-Piraeus Sister City Committee, which promotes trade
and cultural exchanges between Baltimore and Piraeus, the Port City
of Athens, Greece. He is responsible for the development of international
relations and business development between the two cities. For more
than 15 years Mr. Stavrakas owned and operated a highly successful
hospitality business, AHP Ltd., grossing in excess of $60 million.
Mr. Stavrakas obtained his Masters degree in Physics and Mathematics
from the University of Maryland and Morgan State University and
participated in the PhD program in Geophysics at the Johns Hopkins
University.
Since joining Omni in 1998, Mr. Stavrakas has used
his vast knowledge and experience in national and international
business development, and his numerous diplomatic and political
relationships, to facilitate Omni's participation in a variety of
telecommunications projects and joint venture opportunities throughout
the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
Susan
Eliasberg - Vice President Marketing and Public Relations
Ms. Eliasberg has close to 20 years of experience
in international marketing, public relations, and economic development.
In her role as President of International Marketing and Public Relations,
Inc. and her previous role as Vice President of Marketing and Public
Relations for the Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC) and its
predecessor the Baltimore Economic Development Corporation (BEDCO),
Ms. Eliasberg has worked with businesses and governments around
the world. Her experience includes facilitating international trade
development, as well as developing marketing and public relations
strategies and materials used in the United States and overseas.
Ms. Eliasberg graduated from Denison University with a Bachelor
of Arts, and was recognized by Who's Who Worldwide in the 1994-1995
registry.
Armando
Milian - Director of Engineering
Mr. Milian brings more than 20 years of engineering, operations
and general management experience to Omni. After attending Florida
International University, Mr. Milian was employed by the Federal
Aviation Administration. His international and domestic experience
has been in both the government and private sectors. Mr. Milian's
professional expertise includes telecommunications and data communications
integration, networking, product development engineering, equipment
installation, project management and satellite communications. Mr.
Milian has worked extensively throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas
and is fluent in Spanish.
Mary
Doherty - Director of Operations (Co-Founder)
Ms. Doherty, one of the founders of Omni Communications,
has more than 15 years experience in corporate management and international
affairs. She oversees each of the projects, coordinates travel and
scheduling, and handles all procurement, purchase and vendor relations.
Ms. Doherty is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Independent Studies.
